South Australian Vintage Speedcar Association Inc.

About SAVSA

The South Australian Vintage Speedcar Association Inc. is a non profit organisation which was formed in 2001 by a group of people who wished to preserve Speedway's "Golden Era" at Rowley Park Speedway. It is dedicated to the innovative builders and heroic drivers of speedcars and three quarter midgets (TQ's) that competed on dirt speedways prior to 1980, mainly at Rowley Park. This was commonly known as "The Place Where Champions Gather".

Displays

We take part in static displays for fetes and community events, and fire the cars up for demonstrations at selected speedways .Feedback received from our static displays shows that there is a strong interest in seeing the cars in action, and we do indeed run them in spirited demonstrations at modern speedway tracks.

We regularly appear at Murray Bridge, Gillman, Wayville Show Grounds, Renmark, Bordertown and Whyalla.

Some of our members own more than one racing vehicle. Some of our members are so keen that they belong to other clubs with like interests as well, while other interested members live interstate.

Not all of our members cars are registered with SAVSA, but may be registered with another like club and attend our displays.

Due to the passage of time it is becoming more difficult for enthusiasts to find the remains of a particular car which once took their fancy. The possibility does exist for the building of a replica once all efforts have revealed that a particular car no longer exists.

There are association guidelines and regulations to ensure that the vehicle is an accurate representation of the original.
